Listen, I’m behind on a lot. Like look at this awesome Louie picture I just painted. I’ve had this kit for MONTHS. I only got around to it because the deadline is the end of the month. I actually also have a green kit I need to do. Maybe a raccoon?
K and I ordered a five-pack of these kits months ago. I kept blue and green. Here’s Louie in blue. I think she has Yellow, Purple, and Turquoise.
What are they for? Major grift this artist came up with. Genius. He’s making money on both ends. So he does big murals for cities. I’m sure they’re tens of thousands of dollars. He does a mock up of a mural he wants to do. Then he sells these tile kits at a huge markup. And people like me get to do a “tile.” for the mosaic. Then we take a picture of our tile and he arranges them into a picture and prints it on metal and sells it to a city. Genius. Here’s one in Canada:
We’re doing tiles for “Oceana.” No, we don’t know where it will be installed yet. As you can see (at the link), it’s sea turtles. So we hope it will be somewhere beachy. Then we could take a trip to see it and hold our tiles up next to it like the people on the website.
It’s a grift, but i still like the idea. I just haven’t been inspired to paint them. And we haven’t had time to get together to do them. Now we’re like 2 weeks from the deadline though, so a-painting I will go. Maybe I’ll do green this weekend.
